Pinterest!!

Hello there fearless mothers of wonderful and passionate children!

For those of you who enjoy the world wide web and have discovered the world of Pinterest, you can attest to the fact that there is a plethora of information and fun ideas for homeschooling in the world of Pinterest.

Pinterest is a website that allows you to create "Boards" with your ideas and dreams and creates inspiration for you in various areas of your life.  You can find ideas that you like and "pin" them to your boards.  From exercise routines to crafts and recipes and hair styles and gifts and party ideas and laundry and home school activities.  One of my most recent postings that I love included 'date ideas' for my son and daughter. I also recently discovered some homeopathic cold and flu remedies.

Becky Cunniff, a first year member, stated that Pinterest was not something that she spent a lot of time on at first. She began by browsing through projects and then decided that many of the projects that she found could be completed by her! Back in December of 2012, she began making "Boards" after she purchased her first sewing machine.  Finding projects on Pinterest, she began finding projects she would like to make and save for later.  This was actually an awesome opportunity for she and her husband, Scott, to work on projects together.  In fact, she showed different projects to Scott that worked on organization for their craft room and after she designed it, he built it.   Take a look at the complete project:

This project allows Becky to store her crafting supplies there and also supplies a fold-down table for she and her friends to craft together in the room.

Chrystal Kieffer, another first year member, is preparing for a birthday party for her 9 year old son.  In preparation for his party, Chrystal and her husband, Jeff, blew up balloons and planned for this fun event shown below.  The children take NERF guns and shoot the balloons. The goal is to get all of the balloons popped as soon as possible.

Chrystal also enjoys finding recipes for her young family and finding neat do-it-yourself projects for her very wood working husband.  You should see his projects!!!

I absolutely love finding activities to do with my family during the weekends when we don't want to sit in front of the television or go outside because of the frigid temps.

One weekend, I created a "secret board" of all activities that we could do as a family that would be engaging.  We made "kook-aid popcorn," played family Jenga, made special home-made allergy-friendly pizzas, and hot chocolate.  It was an awesome weekend planned for our family!

I have also found some awesome homeschool resources like "parts of a letter" or play-dough and paint recipes and plans for my school year or interesting ways to use an iPad in the classroom.

If you are interested in finding out more about this site, visit: www.pinterest.com and see what you can find.  And if you want some help, we can have a fun night of Pinterest (making recipes we've found) and share resources.

Happy Pinning!
